What would it be like to live in darkness?

by Matthew Halliday

What would it be like to live in darkness? It would be really frightening. Every time you went round a corner, you wouldn't be able to see what was ahead. You wouldn't know who was an enemy or a friend. You would stumble over every obstacle, not able to see the right way to go. You would grope your way along walls looking for light but would find none. We need light to find our way and choose our destiny, for without it we will trip and fall.

The bible says living without Jesus is like living in darkness because Jesus is the light of the world. Without him you could close your eyes and walk without vision for the rest of your life your life. That's what it would be like.

God sent Jesus to save us. He sent Jesus to be our saviour. He sent Jesus to guide us. He sent Jesus to wash away our sins. Jesus is the light in the darkness and God sent him for us.

The light is not for one person. We must share it. Jesus says in Matthew chapter 5 "A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven."

So I'll let you decide. Do you want to walk in the darkness? Or do you want to live in the light? Are you going to try to hide that light? I hope not. I hope you let that light shine with all the glory of God!
